Kalyna Family Resource Network

As part of the Government of Alberta‘s Family Resource Network (FRN), Vegreville’s community-based centre provides services and support based on the needs of families, children, and youth. Vegreville’s FRN focuses on child development and well-being, caregiver capacity-building supports, and social support and connections.

Through a hub and spoke model of service delivery, Vegreville & District FCSS, a hub, coordinates services in the Vegreville area with spoke service providers. Providers in the Kalyna Network include Lamont County, Two Hills, Mannville-Minburn-Innisfree, Vegreville, and WJS.

Stay and Play

For caregivers with children 0-6 years, older siblings are welcome.
Free drop-in sessions include playtime crafts, stories, and snacks.

 

Pancakes and Play

For caregivers with children 0-6 years, older siblings are welcome.

Saturday mornings for family fun and pancakes.

 

Nature Sprouts

For caregivers and children 0-6 years, older siblings are welcome.

A free land-based learning program. Activities surrounding Canadian nature & Indigenous teachings. Snacks are provided. In Partnership with the Vegreville Centennial Library.

A youth program for grades 7-12 focused on providing support and life skills to teens. This program benefits the youth's overall well-being and social connections.

 

SOARING

For ages 12-24
Join in on creating a platform to enhance youth connections in Vegreville! Laptops and snack will be provided!

The ASQ screening tools are user-friendly, age-appropriate, and evidence-based questionnaires to help children reach their fullest potential during their formative early years. These are completed by the primary caregiver of children 0-60 months of age. FRN staff are here to help and can provide tip sheets, extra support, and referrals to services based on the results of the completed ASQ. There are two screening tools in the ASQ program:

ASQ®: SE-2: Focuses on social-emotional development.
ASQ®-3: Looks at 5 key areas of early development.

Caregivers capacity building refers to empowering and supporting caregivers through education, training, and resources. It helps enhance their skills and knowledge, enabling them to provide better care and support for those they look after. It focuses on strengthening caregivers' abilities and confidence in their role.

Offered by Lamont County and MMI Spokes within Kalyna FRN.

Baby Talk 

For caregivers with children 0-18 months.

This program is created for expectant families and families with babies. Community speakers present on learning topics, resources, and support.

This program is a warm and welcoming space where grandparents can come together to share their experiences, gain valuable insights, and connect with others who are on a similar journey.
